A New Chapter For SKODA Begins…

A new chapter for SKODA begins with electric iV brand

SKODA have entered a new chapter in their 124 year history by introducing the iV sub brand…

The iV sub brand is a collection of the new and upcoming electric vehicles from SKODA as well as the development of new mobility solutions. The i symbolises several characteristics of the brand:

  • intelligent
  • iconic
  • innovative
  • inspiring
  • individual
  • intuitive

whereas the V in SKODA iV stands for vehicle.

SKODA Auto will be spending over two billion euros over the next five years to develop the products in the iV brand; the company’s largest investment programme to date! By 2022, SKODA will have introduced more than ten electric cars, which will establish the iV family brand! As part of a double world premiere, SKODA presented two new electric vehicles in Bratislava in May 2019, let’s take a look at them…

The SKODA CITIGOe iV will be the first fully electric vehicle in SKODA’s 124 year history offering up to 164 mile range in the WLTP cycle, making it perfectly equipped for city driving! The battery can be recharged to 80% in just one hour using a CCS (Combined Charing System) charging cable.

The zero emission CITIGOe iV may look small on the outside but is in fact very spacious inside for four passengers. The boot capacity offers 250 litres, but fold the rear seats down and this increases to 923 litres.

There will be two trim levels available, the Ambition and Style trims. Standard equipment includes Swing II radio, Move&Fun smartphone docking station, electric front windows, Lane Assist and Climatronic. The Style trim also includes electric and heated wing mirrors, ambient lighting on the dashboard as well as a leather detailing package which includes a leather steering wheel, handbrake and gearstick. There is also an option to add a Comfort package and Winter package (Style trim only).

The SKODA CITIGOe iV production is due to begin this Autumn and will be available for sale in the UK early 2020. Although prices have not been confirmed, SKODA have hinted that the CITIGOe iV will go on sale for under €20,000 in Europe.

The SKODA SUPERB iV is the first production model by SKODA to be fitted with plug-in hybrid drive. It will offer up to a 35 mile electric range in the WLTP cycle and combined with the petrol engine can offer in total up to a 578 mile range! You can select whether you want to drive in E-Mode (100% electric) or HYBRID mode (use of both petrol engine and the electric motor).

Volkswagen, SEAT and SKODA Drive into 2019 as WhatCar? Winners

It’s that time of year again, it’s What Car? Award season! There’s no bigger prize than a win at the annual What Car? Car of the Year Awards. This year we are incredibly proud to announce that we have won a whole host of awards! Let’s see who scooped first prize…

The SKODA winning streak has continued as we drive into 2019 with two WhatCar? category wins and four price point victories – that’s an impressive six accolades! The SKODA Octavia was crowned ‘Family Car of the Year’ and the SKODA Superb was awarded ‘Estate Car of the Year’ for the fourth year in a row. Last, but not least, the Superb, Karoq, Citigo and Fabia also went on to win a price point award!

Here’s what Ian Jarvis, SKODA Sales Manager had to say:

“Winning a What Car? Car of the Year Award is the biggest accolade a car and car maker can get. SKODA cars are dynamic, interesting and simply clever – coupled with the Pulman fantastic customer experience, owning a SKODA just got even better!

SKODA was not the only winner on the night. Two SEAT models have also claimed top category honours in the What Car? Awards 2019. The CUPRA Ateca won sports SUV of the year and the SEAT Arona won small SUV of the year (for the second consecutive year) at the What Car? Awards in London.

Alex Paget, SEAT site manager, said

“To be recognised by industry experts for our SUV models is fantastic, we are incredibly proud that SEAT and CUPRA were crowned winners at the 2019 WhatCar? Awards. We knew that the CUPRA Ateca was going to be a spectacular car, but when it was delivered to site we couldn’t wait to get it out on the road. The CUPRA Ateca is ready and waiting to hit the roads of Sunderland – why not pop along to Pulman SEAT for a test drive?”

Volkswagen might of been late to the pick-up party when it launched the Amarok in 2010, but it was worth the wait! This year the Amarock was crowned overall winner in the Pick-up of the Year category.

Here’s what Keith Ramshaw, our Volkswagen Sales Manager had to say:

The Volkswagen Amarock is a fantastic car, and my go-to demonstrator all year round. It truly is a truck you can use every day, from a weekend away, to a trip to the supermarket! 2018 Diesel and EcoCar SKODA Winners Revealed

SKODA has once again proved itself to be the brand to beat by dominating the 2018 DieselCar and EcoCar Top 50. SKODA were named as class winner in no fewer than four categories and topped more sectors than any other manufacturer in the influential annual chart.

Now in its third year, the DieselCar and EcoCar Top 50 is widely regarded as a definitive guide to the best cars on the market. The winners are compiled from data and feedback from a team of writers who have tested more than 175 cars over the year. All have been road tested in the UK, and judged against the expectations and demands of their target market.

The Kodiaq added to its incredible list of industry titles by topping the Large SUV category – beating off some tough competition in the process! Ian Robertson, said “Despite undercutting key rivals, the big SKODA offers more performance and practicality at a lower price and with smaller running costs. This five and seven-seater drives brilliantly comes with the option of advanced four-wheel drive to keep you going and is filled to the roof rails with clever features”

Not to be outdone, the Superb grabbed two awards: Best Large Car and Best Large Estate.  As with the Kodiaq, the judging panel loved the Superb’s value and practicality. “The pricing of this limousine-like model defies belief. On top of this, torque engines and smooth manual or automatic gearboxes make the Superb a superlative tow car, and it’s in its element on the motorway. If you aren’t an SUV enthusiast, the SUperb is a great antidote and yet still hugely spacious”

Completing a fantastic haul for SKODA, the Octavia was named Best Medium Estate, marking a lock-out of the large Estate market for the brand. Substantially updates last year, the Octavia wowed the judges with its strength in depth. Explaining why it took top honours Ian Robertson said “the Octavia has a class-leading boot and the vRS performance version is powerful and grippy without attracting any unwanted attention.”

Thanks to the new Karoq’s 17th place finish, no fewer than five SKODA models features in the Top 50 – a remarkable achievement and testament to the value for money delivered by the brand’s efficient diesel models.
